Kitchen Manager

Job Summary

The Kitchen Manager serves as a support to the administration in managing all things pertaining to the kitchen to establish a healthy, enriching, teaching environment. This person will exhibit excellent
organizational skills, along with interpersonal skills in dealing with children, parents and other staff members. The Kitchen Manager will be under the direct supervision of the Center Director. This position is a part time level of employment. Hourly rate will be determined commensurate with credentials of the candidate.

Base hourly rate: $10.00/hour

Primary Duties

  • Maintain accurate food inventories
  • Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures
  • Rotate stock items as per established procedures
  • Purchase and restock kitchen as needed, operating within the established set budget
  • Ensure that the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized daily
  • Plan and prepare for all scheduled meals and snack times
  • Distribute meals and snacks to each room
  • Compose a monthly meal/snack schedule for each classroom
  • Manage food preparation and service for special events planned for the center
  • Perform additional tasks as deemed necessary by administration

Skills

Professional

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Cook in the food service industry
  • Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures
  • ServeSafe /DHS Certification
  • First Aid/CPR training certification
